Jim earned a Bachelor of Science in Photography in May of 1991 from Sam Houston State University. Within a month of graduating, Jim was working as the photography manager at Sea World of Texas.
Since 1991, Jim has been a full-time professional portrait photographer who has been published in many magazines, in locations as far away as Australia. Even Kodak has specifically requested his work (in June of 1999) for their trade publication in England to advertise their (then) new professional films (Portra). In 1997, Jim wrote the first of what is now a collection of over 100 classes. Over 4000 students have taken classes with Landers Photography school. The flagship program is "Career Photographer" a two-year, college-style, 300 classroom hour program designed to lift a passion for photography into a profitable career. Jim is the host of the weekly show, "Portrait Profits"
